Eligibility

  • Be enrolled or enrolling in an undergraduate degree program at Appalachian State University which is one of the constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina
    • Note: the recipient university will rotate among the sixteen constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina in subsequent award years
  • Be a resident of North Carolina for tuition purposes
  • Be nominated by the financial aid office of the school he/she plans to attend
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Have demonstrated academic achievement (as indicated by class rank, cumulative GPA, and SAT scores), leadership, and financial need

Description

Established by industrialist N.S. Jagannathan, the scholarships were first awarded for the 1996-97 academic year. The Jagannathan Scholarship program is administered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority.

Application Requirements

  • Recipients will be selected by their universities. For more information about this program, contact the scholarship coordinator in the financial aid office.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need as determined by the application process

The maximum award is variable, nonrenewable and cannot exceed demonstrated financial need.
