North Carolina Retail Merchants Scholarship (NCRMA)

The NC Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA) provides scholarships to students planning to enroll in accredited programs leading to employment in the retail industry through the Retail Consumer Alliance Foundation (RCA).

To be considered applicant must:
  • Be a high school senior enrolling for the 2016 fall semester as a college freshman or college undergraduates enrolling for the 2016 fall semester as a sophomore or junior
  • Be
    • A dependent or spouse of a NCRMA-member employee, or full-time employees of NCRMA member firms. (Parent of dependent employee, or full-time employee must be employed for at least one year as of 1/1/16 and employed at the time the scholarship is awarded.) OR
    • Part-time employees of NCRMA member businesses who are full-time students. (Part-time employees must have been employed by the NCRMA member store for at least six months as of 1/1/16 and employed at the time the scholarship is awarded.)
  • Be employed or have parents who are employed by a NCRMA member company at the time winners are selected in April.
  • Have average to above-average academic range (please include transcript with submission)
  • Include extracurricular activities and any plans to enter into a professional retail career upon graduation
  • Be enrolled in college full time for the 2016 fall semester.

Five (5) $2,500 scholarships. Scholarships are renewable and recipients can apply in subsequent years.

Application Procedure
  • Apply online at or print a copy of the application. If there is no computer access, call 919-832-0811 to have an application mailed
  • Send completed application and official transcript to:

  • Completed application packets must be postmarked by Monday, April 4, 2016

Other Information
  • Applicants will be evaluated by the following:
    • Academic records
    • Test scores
    • Extracurricular activities
    • Student retail employment
    • Plans to enter a professional retail career upon graduation
  • Winners are selected largely on the basis of academic merit
  • Recipients of the scholarship may attend college in any state but must be enrolled full time for the 2016 fall semester
  • Award recipients will be announced in May of 2016
