Description
The State of North Carolina, under contracts with institutions in other states, has for many years secured spaces for the training of its students in certain health professions that could not be fully provided by institutions in our State.

Beginning Fall 2007 Contract Programs funding will no longer be offered to new students studying medicine or dentistry as these programs are available through institutions in North Carolina. Students who were funded through this program for these disciplines prior to Fall 2008 will be eligible to continue receiving assistance until they graduate or otherwise no longer qualify for the program.

Students seeking assistance for the study of medicine and dentistry should visit www.CFNC.org for information about potential funding opportunities through other programs.

Optometry

Funding for the study of Optometry will continue to be available through the newly created North Carolina Optometry Scholarship Loan (OSL) program. The participating campuses for students who begin in and after Fall 2008 are Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Southern College of Optometry and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Beginning Fall 2008, funds will no longer be offered to new students studying optometry at the University of Houston.
