| Description | |
| Established by industrialist N.S. Jagannathan, the scholarships were first awarded for the 1996-97 academic year. The Jagannathan Scholarship program is administered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. |

Applicant must meet the following eligibility requirements

| Value | |
| The maximum award for 2012-2013 is $3,500. Award cannot exceed demonstrated financial need. Scholarship may be renewed for three years or six semesters if enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program, or four years or eight semesters if enrolled in a five-year undergraduate program. Recipient must have continued financial need, maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and must maintain good citizenship at an eligible institution. |

| Application Procedure | |
| Applicant must complete an application and be nominated by one of the following: TIEPET, Universal Fibers, and related companies; the financial aid office of one of the constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina; or by his/her high school counselor. The application will be available online in January. Applicant must take the College Board SAT and file the College Scholarship Service PROFILE (link is below). The deadline for completing the online application is February 16. Students who do not have documented financial need will not be considered for the scholarship. Students will be notified in May of their candidacy status. |
